Hey, it's Kaz and the girls and it is getting super close to filming! Super Excited! Props:  Props in our horror opening sequence will include items such as  blood, possibly a fake weapon for the last scene , and our phones for filming and for Jenna's "YouTube video." We might also use a selfie stick for Jenna's "vlog" just to enhance the experience of Jenna filming herself. Costumes:  For our costumes, we will just be wearing normal clothing teenagers wear. Since we play teenagers in the opening sequence there won't be any extravagant costumes. The girls will wear either short or leggings and a top and the boys will wear whatever casual outfit they want (pants, jeans, shorts, a shirt) Schedules:  2/19/23- The group has researched the different conventions in the horror genre and in horror movie opening sequences in order to figure out how to build our opening sequence. 2/28/23-The group figured out the props, costumes, schedules, location list and

Title Design

Image
Hey it's Kazmin and the girls and today we went over title design The Fonts we will be using will be the Fonte Forward, STHupo, and the Trade Gothic Inline. STHupo matches well with the characters. The characters are famous youtubers and the text font STHupo is very advanced and technological looking. This gives the audience a mood that this film will be more updated on technology. Fonte Forward looks very professional it gives the idea that this film will be directed well because of the editing. The Contrast will  be red because of the blood and horror that is about to happen but depending on the scene it can alter between different shades of red and black. The effect of having red will change how the audience looks at the film. The adding of red to the text type will make the audience think that there will be gore or a murder in the opening sequence because red is the color of blood. The Font Size will be size 28 it will be Big enough to see on the screen. But not too big beca

Title Research: Se7en

Image
Hey blog, it’s Kaz and the girls. For this opening sequence we chose the movie Seven also advertised as Se7en. The opening title sequence of this movie begins with a harsh, electronic type beat with an electric zapping sound playing while showing a close up shot of an open book with the background out of focus while a hand turns a page; this foreshadows intense events to follow. In quick flash the title “New Line Cinema Presents” in an all capitalized neon-sign type font appears. This image pops off the screen leaving a black background where the following title “An Arnold Kopelson Production” pops onto the screen backwards for a millisecond before popping off and back onto the screen in a proper, readable manner in a part capitalized neon sign font shadowed by a font resembling something carved by a knife that the name of the production company solely appears in. Next pops in another shaky shot of hands with broken-looking fingers and in comes the title “A film by David Fincher” in

Title Research: A Nightmare on elm street

The first title displayed was the title for the company producing the movie which was the new Line cinema. Next title that popped up was the title for the producer which was Robert Shaye. After that the writer and director for the film's title showed up which was Wes Craven. After that all the people involved with making the film are put on screen.   What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?   There were images of the main antagonist's future weapons which were his claws. Also, there were images of the protagonist in a white night gown. There are also images of the cross and images of pipes.   What connotations do these images carry?   The connotation of these images tried to make the audience feel scared. Like something bad was about to happen. Also, the film’s opening sequence tried to give off the feeling it was good v s evil.     How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?   The angles of the protagonists look down on her which m

What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? In the opening sequence, images of the killer clown cleaning up his victims crime scene was prioritized. It then went on to this girl looking like she is making armor to fight or defend herself.  3. What connotations do these images carry? These images carry a scary or chilling connocation. They show that something bad happened an

Title Research: Watch the Titles Website

Image
Welcome back to Kazmin and the girls. For the second website we used we have Watch the Titles. Using this website to learn about title design is very easy. This website includes several title designs divided into different categories. One of these categories is student projects, which showcases students' work from all over the world. Another aspect of this website is the long list of designers, along with a brief description for each one. There are also several interviews with some of the designers. Not only does Watch the Titles have title designs for movies, they have title designs for tv shows. The website links title designs, designers, and studios all together. For example, when looking at a specific studio, the title designs filmed there and designers who worked there are shown. Overall, this website has a good structure and is very informative.

Title Research: Art of the Title Webiste

Image
Hey blog it’s Kazmin and the girls. Art of the Title is the first website about title design that we will be researching. The purpose of this website is title design sequence in film media. Art of the Title includes several sequences and designers. We are researching this website so we can be prepared for our film. After doing some research, I was able to understand what title designs actually are. We were also able to look at past award nominees and winners for various awards about title design. Art of the Title is an efficient website, which is why we chose it. The website shows the studios at which title designs were made, the designers who made them, and the title designs themselves. It also shows these together. For example, when looking at a studio, the designers and title designs filmed there also appear.

Title Research: Silent Hill Revelation

Image
Hey yall, kazmin and the girls here back at it again with title researching this time. We are gonna research the opening sequences of some good horror movies and share it all with yall. Enjoy :) 1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequence? The first title in the opening sequence is the title of the movie.  This is usually big and bolded  on the screen. The font usually stays the same throughout the movie. In this case, the title has "Silent Hill" big and bolded and right under it says Revelation. The next title is the main actor's name which is Adelaide Clemens and after that is another main actor whose name Kit Harington. After that, in the same scene, two actors' names are shown which means they are probably not as important as the others. The names are Sean Bean and Radha Mitchell. The three next scenes are more actors in the movies. Then, the original music credits are given and the name is Akria Yamaoka After that comes the executive producer who is

Movie Convention Research: SMILE

Image
Hey, there blogger! I am so excited to be back and researching this movie genre. My group chose horror which we would say is my favorite genre of movie. I feel like we like to scare ourselves and then complain about how scared we were in the end. I recently watched the movie Smile, twice actually. I absolutely freaked out when we watched it but at the same time, it was super cool and extremely well-made. They definitely accomplish the horror aspect and unsettling parts of the genre. This movie specifically has many conventions that create shock the audience. The sounds and props we feel are a huge part of what makes Smile, Smile. Just in the opening of the movie has such diegetic eerie sounds that are hair-grabbing. They also use props such as knives, axes, and guns. The costumes and makeup in the end really depict the horror in the movie. There are also close-ups, reserve shots, and aerial shots which built up the scene, and many camera angles and jumpscares which really build up th

Movie Convention Research: Scream 4

Image
The convention of scream 4 is the supposedly stupid girl gets chased and killed to start off the opening sequence. Also, there is a theme of having the killer being masked giving the audience a mystery to solve. There are a lot of non-diegetic sounds when there is action commencing in the scenes this creates an ominous effect. Also, there is your typical tracking shot of the character running away from the killer which gives the audience one thought. Will they or will they not get away in this horror film they definitely did not get away. Our favorite convention of the movie was definitely the killer being masked with a personality. This was shown through close-up shots of the killer jumping scaring the characters this creates a jittery effect on the audience. This creates the perfect rush and thrill you get when watching a horror film this is the art of horror films. Also, the acting of the killer made the film more exciting to watch the killer's movement didn't make them se

Movie Convention Research: IT

Image
Hey guys! Kazmin and the girls are gonna research horror movie conventions. Each of us researched different movies and their conventions. In this blog, we will cover the famous clown movie, IT. To start off, we are gonna cover the typical conventions seen in horror movies. Horror uses unique and uncommon angles to create confusion and unsettling experience with the viewer. The lighting fixtures tend to be dark, and underexposed with plenty of shadows, making the target market senses stressed and on edge.  Furthermore, using sound, such as an excessive pitch key, creates a feeling of alarm in the audience. There is additionally an emphasis on footsteps, doorways creaking, and animal noises, making the target market sense as although they do not comprehend what is spherical in the corner. Finally, enhancing horror frequently tends to have a speedy tempo and many cuts to make the target market senses distressed, and uneasy and build dramatic anxiety for perhaps a leap scare.  In the movie

Genre research: Horror, making it final

Image
Genre 1 Thriller: We decided to look into a thriller as a potential candidate for our movie sequence genre because it has a lot of the movie/character conventions we want to explore. Thriller is one of the genres that have a lot of built-up anticipation leaving you at the edge of your seat. Movies that fall under thriller are normally filmed in a private and/or creepy destination, while others are filmed in more popular areas. This is something we are looking for when thinking further along into this project and the setting we choose to film in. Unfortunately, we didn't choose thriller as our final genre. It's common to see a lot of low lighting in thrillers and based on the camera equipment we will have and the convenience of filming the low lighting would be difficult to fulfill.   Genre 2 Romance: We researched the romance genre because our group was interested in building a story that involves love interests. Jenna and Sofia love romantic movies such as The Notebook and 10

Our Pitch

Image
Abandoned area pitch: A group of teens challenges themselves to spend 24 hours in an abandoned property thinking it would be trouble-free, however, that's the last word to describe it.  Ocean pitch: One morning a girl and her surfboard tackle the waves, as always, but the ocean has a different plan.  The abandoned area pitch is creative and unique so doing that would make us stand out as a group. It also sounds like a lot of fun with a big group of people and our group meets the character requirements. Going to an abandoned area has always been something we have wanted to do and it's pretty common for teens to go in our area. There are apps that are designed to visit every abandoned place in your community and they went viral a few years ago. Many YouTubers have actually done 24-hour challenges in such places. It will also be scary so our actions will be natural.  Since our group frequently hangs out this could be another fun adventure that we get to document. The ocean pitch c

A day in the life as Sofia

Image
Welcome to the world of Sofia! I’m just going to share some things about myself. I actually love AICE media because it’s just fun and I get to be with all my friends and make cool videos. I seriously enjoy it. The rest of my school schedule is interesting. I like some of it but not all of it. Some thing else about me as I love animals. They are my favorite thing ever. I have two cats and one dog my cats are called cupcake and stitch and my dog is called poncho. I love them endlessly. I love hanging out with my girlfriends. We love to go to the beach and tan. Speaking of the beach, I actually work at the beach as a hostess. It’s often boring as I just stand there, but sometimes I have interesting encounters. Just the other day I saw this man carrying two snakes on his neck, and in a clear backpack there was another one. It was crazy! My favorite food is fruit but I love a good sweet. I love love to bake cakes especially for family and friend birthdays. Trying new recipes and combination
