- How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? Airpods challenge everyday life. To listen to music, Airpods are used and some people can't perform specific tasks like working out, doing homework, or simply chilling at home without music or sound. In public settings like public transportation, malls, etc, Airpods are used to stop disturbing others and listening to only what they are tuning in to. With newer advancements, all social groups are using Airpods. Now, there are clubs that meet with groups of people and listen to sounds. This is therapeutic for people. Gym groups use airpods constantly to listen to music to push for the best workout. They blast music that gets them pumped and make them more energized. - 2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as an actual media text?
AirPods just being by Apple attracted thousands of people from all over the world. People in Japan want AirPods just like people here in the US want AirPods. Apple products are seen as cool products. Everyone wants apple products before they want anything else. This on its own attracts many audiences. Its unique design also engages people. Its sleek structure makes it wanted. Using sounds, AirPods spread the idea that you can distract yourself and tune into your favorite song, podcast, YouTube video, or even Tok Tok to escape your problems.
- How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
My production skills definitely improved throughout the project. At the beginning of the process, the group was trying to incorporate too many ideas into one. This caused the video to come out slightly confusing and crowded with ideas. I wanted a dance scene, an 80’s design commercial, singing, working out etc. This was too much. I learned that the simpler, the better. It's harder to execute an elaborate idea than a simple one. For our first production, I learned a lot. I learned that complicated ideas are not the goal. This improved my skills and will help us in our next video.
4. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware, and online – in this project?
I used a multitude of technologies. To film the project, I used an apple iPhone, to edit it, I used computer editing software, and to publish it, I used the online social media platform: YouTube. With all these components working hand-in-hand, I was able to record, edit, and publish our commercial. In other words, without the integration of these technologies, I wouldn’t have been able to finish our project.
